The 456M (“M” for Modificata) was designed for those clients wanting four seats with the sport and handling capabilities of a 2-seater. Powered by the same 5.5 Liter V12 as the 550 Maranello and being the predecessor to the 612 Scaglietti, the 456M GT represented a monumental milestone in Ferrari’s development and evolution as a race car company making street cars. The 456 was sold from 1992 to 2004 with the upgraded M version being released in 1998. The improvements over the standard model ranged from improved aerodynamics, a cleaner interior appearance, and a fixed undercarriage spoiler versus a motorized spoiler.
